JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said the revitalization process for Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in East Jakarta had reached 98 percent.

"This is already 98 percent, it will be finished soon, the community can immediately enjoy it again," Jokowi told reporters after directly observing TMII in East Jakarta, Tuesday, August 23.

Jokowi said that the massive revitalization was the first since the gardens of the ideas of the second President of the Republic of Indonesia, Suharto and Tien Suharto, were built in the mid-1975s.

After the revitalization, he hopes that TMII can become a tourist destination, both from within the country and abroad.

"Because of that, I also leave a message, the tariff should not be expensive, the people must still be able to enjoy this TMII," he added.

When he visited the platforms of each province in TMII, Jokowi found many damaged buildings. Therefore, he ordered each provincial government to rehabilitate their respective platforms.

"Some provinces have started to renovate and build. We hope that by the end of this year everything will be finished," said Jokowi.

He also asked the management of TMII to regularly hold cultural arts activities at every existing pavilion and open stage.

"So there is a clear calendar of events, it will be a good spectacle for the people, especially for our children," said Jokowi.

The revitalization of TMII is regulated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 116 of 2021 concerning the Acceleration of the Implementation of Infrastructure Development to Support the Implementation of International Events in Bali Province, DKI Jakarta Province, West Nusa Tenggara Province, and East Nusa Tenggara Province.

The revitalization of TMII is in line with Indonesia's G20 Presidency and will be one of the locations for the G20 Summit.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, in a working meeting with Commission V of the House of Representatives last June, stated that his ministry has prepared a budget of IDR 1.2 trillion for the revitalization of TMII.
