Kak Seto Urges Police To Give Protection To Inspector General Ferdy Sambo's Children

JAKARTA - Chairperson of the Indonesian Child Protection Agency (LPAI) Seto Mulyadi, also known as Kak Seto, urged the National Police to protect the children of Inspector General Ferdy Sambo and Putri Candrawathi after the husband and wife were named suspects in the murder.

"We urge the extended family of the National Police to also protect children," said Kak Seto when contacted by Antara in Jakarta, Sunday, August 21.

Kak Seto added that the Indonesian Child Protection Agency (LPAI) would later coordinate with the National Police Headquarters in order to provide protection for the children of the two couples.

So that not only children out there but children from Polri families are also protected by LPAI, he said.

According to Kak Seto, it is necessary to differentiate the treatment of the children of the two couples in order to provide protection, especially for those who are under the age of 18.

The importance of the role of the extended family and the police family also supports the physical and psychological condition of children who are far from their parents.

"Please separate the children from the case of their parents. There must be a role, either from the family or from the Polri institution itself," he continued.

The importance of the Child Protection Law is expected to be able to protect children from acts of violence including guaranteeing their rights and freedoms, he said.

At the end of his statement, Kak Seto suggested that Inspector General Ferdy Sambo's children temporarily stop using social media and should undergo informal education.

"So that he is not consumed by the harsh comments of netizens and so on for his psychological safety," he said.
