JAKARTA - Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin said on Friday she had taken a drug test after video footage of her partying with friends went viral earlier this week.

The video clip of Marin partying with famous Finnish influencers and artists, started circulating on social media this week and was soon published by several media in Finland and abroad.

"I took a drug test today and the results will be out within a week," he told a news conference.

"Never in my life have I used drugs," he said.

PM Marin further explained that his ability to carry out his duties remained undisturbed that evening, with he would leave the party if asked to work.

It is understood PM Marin faced calls for drug tests from politicians in his governing coalition as well as from the opposition, after a video of the party went viral.

Previously, PM Marin expressed his frustration yesterday, because a video of him dancing at a private party was published online.

The clip was originally uploaded to a personal Instagram account. Marin, who became the world's youngest government leader in December 2019, said she knew she was being filmed, but never thought the video would go public.

"These videos are private and were filmed in a private room. I am upset that this is known to the public," Marin told reporters. He said he didn't know who leaked it.

PM Marin said the video was a compilation of clips from two separate occasions a few weeks ago. He said people at the event consumed alcohol, but no one had used drugs to his knowledge.

"We just had a party, also in a boisterous way. I danced and sang," said Marin, denying claims that the video had become a publicity stunt, less than a year until the next general election.
