Puan Maharani Reminds The Importance Of Massive HR Investment, Here's The Reason

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, said that technological and scientific innovations make it important for Indonesia to invest in human resources (HR) on a large scale. Rapid development must be pursued.

This was conveyed by Puan when delivering her Speech for the First Session of the 2022-2023 Session at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, today, Tuesday, August 16.

"There is no choice for us not to invest heavily in human resources (HR)," said Puan in her speech broadcast on the DPR RI YouTube.

Developed countries, continued Puan, have achieved technological innovation in many fields. So, all parties to make preparations to be able to compete.

One way is by focusing the skills education system on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Puan said that this capability is important given to anticipate the needs and the labor market.

Moreover, Indonesia is a country with the 4th largest population in the world. "But the foundation of our children's basic education related to character, mutual cooperation, and noble culture must remain the spirit and identity of the nation's soul," he said.

Furthermore, Puan said Indonesia must also do several other things to become a high-income country. Among them, continue to create a skilled workforce.

"We need to continue to make structural changes, create a skilled workforce, innovate environmentally friendly and efficient technologies, as well as a conducive business climate," he said.

"With this way we should be optimistic towards a high income country," he concluded.
