Puan Praises Gotong Royong Is A Success Factor In Dealing With COVID-19 Recognized By The World: Thank You!

JAKARTA - Chairman of the House of Representatives and Chair of the Joint Session, Puan Maharani, touched on Indonesia's success in dealing with COVID-19, which received world recognition thanks to the mutual cooperation of all elements of the nation.

"As a country based on God Almighty, of course we must always be grateful, because our nation and country can still be united in facing difficult situations to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic," said Puan in a joint session of the DPR RI and DPD RI at the Nusantara Building. , Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday 16 August.

The Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI was attended by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin. Puan praised the government for continuing to carry out its duties to protect the people in the midst of the pandemic.

"Since the first case of COVID-19 in Indonesia was announced, namely on March 2, 2020, until now, we have been in a situation of the COVID-19 Pandemic for 29 months. We need to continue to be vigilant," said the first woman who served as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

Puan also said that the Pancasila ideology was the guide for the Indonesian people to create a massive mutual cooperation movement in the face of COVID-19. According to him, massive mutual cooperation is one of the main keys to the strength of the post-pandemic social and economic recovery of the Indonesian nation.

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw that the Pancasila ideology had worked concretely to guide the Indonesian nation. Alternately, with their own awareness, our community members help each other. And the movement took place in almost all corners of the country," said Puan.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture added that the government has been given sufficient authority to take quick and anticipatory action for the safety of the people and ensure the running of the government since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic that hit Indonesia.

The space of authority is through Law Number 2 of 2020 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2020 concerning State Financial Policy and Financial System Stability for Handling the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic and/or in Facing Threats. Which Endangers the National Economy and/or Financial System Stability Becomes Law.

Then also through a Government Regulation in Lieu of Law concerning the Handling of the COVID-19 Pandemic which was processed quickly and carefully in the Indonesian House of Representatives so that there was no legal umbrella vacuum to deal with the pandemic that hit most countries in the world. Puan said that Indonesia's good handling of the COVID-19 pandemic received world recognition.

"Alhamdulillah, thanks to all of us working together, working together, the COVID-19 pandemic can be handled properly. Even in the release of Johns Hopkins University data regarding the handling of COVID-19 in 2021, Indonesia is rated as one of the best countries in the world in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.

"This is the result of our joint work, mutual cooperation against the COVID-19 pandemic," added Puan.

Furthermore, Puan expressed her appreciation to all the nation's children who have helped the Indonesian people face the COVID-19 pandemic. Especially all those who are at the forefront of handling the pandemic.

"Thank you health workers, thank you TNI, thank you police, thank you to the COVID-19 task force at the center and regions, and thank you to humanitarian volunteers," said Puan.

According to the grandson of the Indonesian Proclaimer Bung Karno, Indonesia's ability to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic further proves that the power of gotong royong is not only limited to words. Puan continues to invite all Indonesian people to unite and work together in dealing with the COVID-19 Pandemic.

“Working together, helping each other with laundry, Hulupis kuntul Baris, which is the soul and personality of the Indonesian nation. Pancasila, is our most important national strength in maintaining the life and livelihood of our society, nation and state," he stressed.

In addition to President Jokowi and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, the Joint Session of the DPR-DPD which is still in a series with the 2022 MPR Annual Session was also attended by a number of former presidents and former vice presidents. Then there were also leaders of state institutions, as well as the ranks of the Ministers of the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet.

The Joint Session of the DPR-DPD RI also invited the Ambassadors/Heads of Representatives of Friendly Countries and the General Chairs of Political Parties. This Joint Session was the first session attended by all members of the DPR RI and DPD RI since the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
