Police Investigate Alleged Violations Of Rizieq Shihab's Activities In Bogor

JAKARTA - The West Java Regional Police (Polda) are conducting an investigation regarding the alleged violation of the rules in Rizieq Shihab's activities in Megamendung, Bogor, some time ago.

Head of West Java Regional Police, Kombes Erdi A. Chaniago, said that the activity which was held on Friday, November 13 was attended by many people, potentially violating the COVID-19 health protocol.

"We are investigating the issue of permits, who will be present, then other issues," Erdi said at the West Java Regional Police, Bandung City, Wednesday, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, November 18.

So far, he has not confirmed how many people will be summoned regarding the alleged violation. However, he said, it is possible that the organizer of the event will be summoned by a team of investigators.

"We are still studying it first, then we will report who it is," he said.

Apart from being suspected of violating it, this activity also resulted in the removal of Inspector General Rudy Sufahriadi from his position as Kapolda West Java. Rudy was removed from his position because he was deemed not to have followed orders related to the Rizieq Shihab event.

But until now, Rudy or the West Java Regional Police did not want to give any response regarding the dismissal of this position. Including the agenda of handing over the position from Rudy to Inspector General Ahmad Dofiri who will fill the position.

Apart from Rudy, Inspector General Pol Nana Sudjana was removed from the position of Kapolda Metro Jaya by the National Police Chief General Idham Azis. Similar to Rudy, Nana's removal was caused by the wedding ceremony of Rizieq Shihab's daughter which was attended by many people in Jakarta.
