Latest Electric Motorcycle Patent Images from Yamaha Revealed, Offer Different Concept

JAKARTA - Yamaha is again signaling its seriousness in the electric vehicle segment through a new design that has been registered in Japan. After years of undergoing a dynamic journey in the electric motorcycle and scooter market, the Japanese manufacturer is now apparently preparing a new model that is ready to enter the production stage.

Based on the circulating design document, the electric motorcycle carries a simple appearance, but shows the character as a scooter with a size equivalent to 125 cc. The fairing design attached to the handlebars reminds of the Yamaha RayZR 125, but the most eye-catching thing is the mechanical configuration.

Launching from AMCN, Thursday, July 23, unlike most electric scooters that place the driving motor directly in the swing arm as is the case with gasoline-powered scooters, Yamaha's latest model is expected to use an electric motor mounted in the middle of the frame.

The power is then channeled to the rear wheel through a belt drive system, similar to the construction on a conventional motorcycle. Meanwhile, the battery is placed under the seat and is believed to use a removable or interchangeable battery system, as applied to the Yamaha NEO.

Another uniqueness is seen in the rear suspension sector. If generally scooters use shock absorbers that are mounted on the back of the swing arm to make room for the engine and storage compartment, this Yamaha design actually adopts two shockbreakers that are mounted further forward.

Its position is made far apart to flank the battery room which is under the seat. The front also looks different with an unusual lighting identity.

This motorcycle uses four main lights that are placed around one additional light in the middle with a typical shape. Meanwhile, the rear lights come with a more assertive and angular design, forming a silhouette resembling a bridge that at first glance reminds of the Honda logo in an upside down position.

In the cockpit area, a small TFT screen is visible as an instrument panel. In addition, there are several storage compartments on the inside of the front body.

The absence of a conventional keyhole indicates that this motorcycle has likely adopted a keyless system to operate the ignition key and open the seat. Given the level of maturity of the design shown in the patent document, it is likely that Yamaha is preparing to introduce this model to the market in the near future.

The next challenge is to prove whether the latest electric scooter is able to achieve better acceptance compared to previous electric models that still have difficulty recording high sales.
