SEMARANG - Deputy Governor of Central Java, Taj Yasin Maimoen visited people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) who had given birth at Tugurejo Hospital, Semarang. The Deputy Governor also gave a name that was expected to bring guidance to the patient.
"Hopefully, this delivery can bring guidance to the family, especially to the parents (patients)," said Taj Yasin, after visiting the patient in a statement from the Central Java Provincial Government, Monday, August 15.
The chairman of the Central Java AIDS Commission (KPA) explained that he received a report about a pregnant PLWHA from West Java who was about to give birth last Tuesday (02/08). From the report, he immediately contacted Tugurejo Hospital for examination and treatment.
After undergoing the examination, the PLWHA, who currently lives in the Semarang Regency area, was asked to re-examine on 19 August. However, early Monday morning, the patient experienced contractions and was immediately taken to Tugurejo Hospital for delivery.
Taj Yasin expressed his appreciation to the Semarang Regency KPA who had provided assistance.
"This is an example that we as an institution for the handling of HIV/AIDS (KPA) must pick up the ball. Because if we just wait, we are worried that they will not report to us," he said.
The Deputy Governor asked all KPAs in Central Java not to tire of providing assistance to PLWHA. According to him, education must continue to be given to them so that PLWHA have awareness to maintain their body condition.
"Earlier, from the patient, from the beginning there was no control to the doctor, while even if they had control earlier, it was anticipated as much as possible. I thank the paramedics who handle and provide education, hopefully later their child can be saved from the virus," he added.
Furthermore, Taj Yasin appealed to the public to remain vigilant against the spread of HIV/AIDS. However, he asked the public not to give a negative stigma to PLWHA. That is, in order to achieve 3 zero AIDS in 2030.
