Carnival Car Burns Incident, Deputy Governor Riza Promises Jakarnival Evaluation For Next Year

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said the DKI Provincial Government will evaluate the implementation of the Jakarnaval event which was just held today at the Formula E circuit area, Ancol, North Jakarta.

This evaluation was carried out to minimize unwanted things, such as the fire incident in the carnival car that had occurred in the middle of the event. This evaluation is also a note of improvement in the Jakarnaval celebration next year.

"Next year will continue to make improvements and a thorough evaluation so that every year there is an increase," said Riza when met in Ancol, North Jakarta, Sunday, August 14.

Allegedly, the fire that spread in one of the carnival cars was caused by sparks from fireworks that were lit on top of the car during the parade. However, Riza insists this incident is not a significant problem.

"It was just a little fire. There was a little incident, no problem. There were no casualties," he said.

On that occasion, Riza said that the purpose of the DKI Provincial Government to hold the Jakarnaval festival at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC) was to promote tourist destinations spread across Jakarta, especially the Ancol area.

"We want to show that we have Ancol, as the best tourist destination, which after two years of being closed, is starting to rise again. I think this is something positive," he explained.

For information, the DKI Provincial Government is again holding Jakarnaval as a series of Jakarta Anniversary and the Republic of Indonesia Anniversary, after a 2-year vacuum due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are a number of communities displaying their works at this year's Jakarnaval, ranging from decorative car makers, intellectual property (IP) performers, musical dramas, marching bands, dance performances, ondel-ondel performances, roller skating attractions, to gambang kromong performances.

The theme for this year's Jakarnaval is "Intellectual Property of the Archipelago for the World".

In addition to watching the carnival with a parade of decorative cars featuring local Indonesian stories, after that the people who attended could enjoy entertainment on the main stage which would be enlivened by Armada Band, Lyodra and Juicy Luicy.
