BANDA ACEH - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) John Wempi Wetipo stated that the westernmost (Aceh) and eastern (Papua) provinces are great powers for the integrity of the Indonesian state.

"We are a great power, Papua and Aceh are great powers for the greater Indonesia," said John Wempi Wetipo in Banda Aceh as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, August 13.

John Wempi Wetipo stated this in his speech at the implementation of the movement to distribute 10 million flags to celebrate the 77th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in Banda Aceh.

Wetipo said many said that in Papua there was the OPM and armed criminal groups (KKB), while in Aceh there was GAM. However, today's problem is no longer that problem, but the state of Indonesia.

"Currently it is no longer about OPM or GAM, but it is a matter of red and white, and there is only one red and white (NKRI). The source of the sun is from the east, and it sets here," he said.

Wetipo emphasized that his party did not have the slightest doubt about the commitment of the Acehnese people to the Indonesian nation and state. It is proven by his willingness to visit Tanah Rencong today.

"I have no doubts. That's why I am in Aceh today. If I had doubts it would not be possible to be here (Banda Aceh)," he said.

With a special policy, said Wetipo, Aceh and Papua have been given special or lex specialis, special autonomy for the people of these two provinces at the end of Indonesia.

"This means that the State provides an opportunity for Aceh and Papua to be able to enjoy better development," continued Wetipo.
