JAKARTA - The PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD summoned the ranks of the DKI Jakarta Education Office to ask for clarification regarding discrimination that occurs in public schools in Jakarta.

Secretary of the PDIP Faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Dwi Rio Sambodo said that his party received complaints from 10 cases in 10 public schools, ranging from elementary, junior high, to high school levels. These cases have occurred since 2020 until now.

"We have revealed 10 cases," said Rio in the PDIP Faction room, DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Wednesday, August 10.

Cases of alleged discrimination that were reported to the PDIP faction include SMA Negeri 58 East Jakarta, SMAN 101 West Jakarta, SMPN 46 South Jakarta, SDN 2 Central Jakarta, and SMKN 6 South Jakarta.

Then SMPN 75 West Jakarta, SMPN 74 East Jakarta, SDN 03 Tanah Sareal West Jakarta, SMPN 250 South Jakarta, and SDN 3 Cilangkap, East Jakarta.

There are also reported cases, including forcing students to wear headscarves, requiring non-Muslim students to wear headscarves every Friday, teachers forbidding students to choose student council leaders of different religions, Hindu and Buddhist students being forced to take Protestant Christian lessons, and forcing non-Muslim students to participate in activities. Islam.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta PDIP Faction, Ima Mahdiah admitted that she was disappointed with the discrimination cases that had occurred in recent times.

"And most of those who do this are education teachers, these citizenship teachers who in my opinion should really maintain diversity," said Ima.

This member of Commission E of the DKI Jakarta DPRD asked the DKI Jakarta Education Office to provide firm witnesses against teachers who were suspected of discriminating against students. Because if left unchecked, Ima is worried that cases like this will be repeated in other public schools.

"Yesterday I received a report from the school principal and the teacher had admitted (the discrimination case that was a complaint). I think this should be a serious sanction from the Head of the Education Office (Nahdiana)," added Ima.
