Sultan HB X Again Appointed As Governor Of DIY For The 2022-2027 Period

YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) has again appointed the King of the Yogyakarta Palace, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, and the Duke of the Duchy of Pakualaman Paku Alam X as Governor and Deputy Governor of DIY for the 2022-2027 period.

The decision, which was held through a Special Plenary Meeting at the DIY DPRD building, Yogyakarta, was attended by leaders and members of the DIY DPRD, several officials, and relatives of the Yogyakarta Palace, and the Duchy of Pakualaman.

"I, along with the Deputy Governor, express our gratitude to the DIY DPRD for completing the stages according to the existing legislation", said Sultan after being appointed as Governor of DIY for the 2022-2027 period, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 9.

According to the Special Law of DIY No. 13 of 2012, the governor of DIY is enthroned as Sultan Hamengku Buwono and enthroned as Duke of Paku Alam for the Deputy Governor of DIY.

Thus, as one of the special features of DIY, filling the positions of governor and deputy governor through stipulations, not general elections.

According to the Sultan, his term of office for the 2017-2022 period will end on October 10, 2022.

Therefore, he appreciates the performance of the DIY DPRD which has processed all stages of the determination long before his term of office expires.

He hopes that the Decree (SK) on the determination of regional heads can be issued on time so that President Joko Widodo can inaugurate him as Governor of DIY and KGPAA Paku Alam X as Deputy Governor of DIY on October 10, 2022.

"Once again, thank you to the DIY DPRD for processing this long before the end of their term of office on October 10, so I hope that the President can quickly determine with certainty that the inauguration will be held on October 10", said Ngarsa Dalem, who is called Sultan HB X.

The chairman of the DIY DPRD, Nuryadi, said that before the determination of the Governor and Deputy Governor of DIY for the 2022-2027 period, the DIY DPRD had gone through all stages, starting from the formation of three special committees (Pansus) to the determination, verifying the requirements for the candidates for governor and deputy governor.

Next, hold a special plenary meeting to hear reports from the special committee regarding the results of the verification of administrative files as well as listen to the presentation of the vision, mission, and program of the candidate for governor.

After being determined, said Nuryadi, the DIY DPRD immediately sent a letter of approval from the Governor and Deputy Governor of DIY as well as a request for the inauguration to the President through the Minister of Home Affairs.

"Soon we will send it to the President through the Minister of Home Affairs, besides that, we will also send a letter to the President, I hope that 55 members of the council can witness the time (inauguration) in October", said Nuryadi.
