DENPASAR - The video of the shop owner's mother named Ni Wayan Officialni or familiarly called Mrs. Oka suddenly went viral on social media.

Mrs. Oka did not expect to get IDR 5 million after helping a Caucasian who admitted that he sprained his ankle. The incident occurred at his shop on Pandawa Beach, Kutuh, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali.

The head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Tjok Ida Bagus Pemayun, appreciated what Mrs. Oka had done. According to him, this is the real characteristic of Balinese people.

"Indeed, this mother shows the characteristics of Balinese society in general, and this provides motivation for the community to return to this characteristic identity", said Pemayun, when contacted, Tuesday, August 9.

"Moreover, almost 56 percent of Bali depends on tourism, so these characters are in hospitality, especially for tourism", he added.

His party will also give an award because what Mrs. Oka has done should be appreciated because it provides positive things for tourism on Gods Island.

"I still see this first, because this is an event that is truly appreciated. I myself appreciate this woman. Things like this can provide value for Bali which incidentally depends on tourism", he said.

What Mrs. Oka has done, said the Head of the Bali Tourism Office, is a lesson for tourism actors and especially the Balinese people to work hand in hand to stimulate tourism in Bali after being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This is a lesson for all of us. This is momentum, especially during a pandemic, how we work together and help each other not only (because of) tourism and tourists, but this is momentum to work together not only the government, (but) actors tourism and society", he said.
