Aceh Regional Police Determines 2 New Suspects In PT KAI Corruption Case

JAKARTA - Investigators at the Aceh Regional Police (Polda) Special Criminal Investigation Directorate have named two new suspects in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) asset certificates.

Director of Special Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimsus) of the Aceh Regional Police, Kombes Margiyanta in Banda Aceh, said Monday that the two new suspects had the initials S and IOZ.

"With the determination of the two new suspects, there are already four suspects in the alleged corruption case of the procurement of PT KAI's asset certificates. The two previous suspects are RI and MAP," said Kombes Margiyanta.

Margiyanta said suspect S previously served as the head of PT KAI in the Aceh region. Meanwhile, the suspect IOZ is an asset staff of PT KAI in Banda Aceh.

Accompanied by the Head of Subdirectorate III for Corruption Crime, the Aceh Police Special Criminal Investigation Directorate AKBP Faisal Simatupang accompanied by AKP investigator Budi Nasuha, Kombes P Margiyanta said the two decisions were only found after a number of evidence of their alleged involvement was found.

"The team of investigators continues to work on completing this case file to be immediately transferred to the public prosecutor. The files with the RI and MAP suspects are currently being investigated by prosecutors," said Kombes Pol Margiyanta.

The Aceh Regional Police have handled cases of alleged corruption in certifying PT KAI assets since 2019. Allegations of corruption include the implementation of land certificates belonging to PT KAI Subdivre I Aceh with the East Aceh region from Bireum Bayem to Madat.

The procurement of asset certificates consisted of 301 plots of land belonging to PT KAI Subdivre I Aceh covering the East Aceh region from Bireum Bayem to Madat with a contract value of IDR 8.2 billion.

Execution of work from planning to making certificates. However, in carrying out the work, it is suspected that prices have been inflated, causing state losses of up to IDR 6.5 billion.

In handling this case, the investigating team of the Aceh Regional Police's Special Criminal Investigation Directorate confiscated two times cash of Rp1.8 billion and Rp150 million, respectively.

As well as two plots of land with an estimated value of IDR 2.5 billion, each covering an area of 3,600 square meters and 500 square meters in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra.

"Investigators also seized other evidence in the form of a computer unit, documents and savings books. Investigators have also examined 56 witnesses, including experts, for questioning," said Margiyanta.
