The Deputy Minister Of Defense Discusses Efforts To Develop The Domestic Defense Industry

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Defense (Wamenhan) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono opened the 2020 leadership meeting of his staff which was held on the lawn of the Ministry of Defense building, Jalan Medan Merdeka. When opening a closed event for the media, Trenggono mentioned the development of the domestic defense industry.

"The Ministry of Defense always strives to develop the domestic defense industry in order to meet the needs of the TNI defense equipment and support the independence of the defense industry. This policy was taken in line with the vision of the President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo) regarding the technology development policy and the defense industry," said Trenggono during the opening ceremony , Wednesday, January 22.

The domestic defense industry, said Trenggono, had the opportunity to be directed to support non-military defense needs. However, this opportunity can only be realized after the defense industry can meet military needs.

"If all of these needs can be met by the defense industry, it can then be developed to support civilian needs," he stressed.

In addition to talking about the defense industry, Sakti also talked about several other things such as increasing cooperation and collaboration, implementing evaluation and improvement at all levels of the Ministry of Defense, and maintaining the title of the Ministry of Defense's Unqualified Opinion (WTP) from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).

This meeting was attended by all Echelon I and II officials in the Ministry of Defense as well as representative officials from TNI Headquarters, Army Headquarters, Air Force and Navy. The meeting was held for two days and closed on Thursday, January 23. The plan is for Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto to attend together with President Joko Widodo who will close the series of meeting activities.

Before closing the event, Jokowi will also brief the participants and invite rapim. In addition, there will be submission of the 2020 State Defense Policy and the 2020 Budget Mandate by the Minister of Defense to the Head of the Ministry of Defense Organizational Unit, TNI Headquarters, as well as the Army, Marine and Air Force Headquarters.
