One Firefighter Injured While Putting Out Fire At PT Pegadaian Central Jakarta

JAKARTA – The head office of PT Pegadaian on Jalan Kramat Raya, Senen, Central Jakarta, on Sunday afternoon, August 7, caught fire. No one was injured in the incident, but a firefighter was reported to have been injured while extinguishing the fire.

Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept. of Picket Officer Kusnanto said the officer was injured due to being hit by broken glass during the fire suppression process.

"One officer was injured, because he was near the glass so he hit the glass," Kusnanto told reporters, Sunday, August 7.

The Emergency Ambulance (AGD) officer who was on duty at the scene immediately took care of the victim.

"It has been handled. Every time there is a fire, they monitor it and will definitely go directly to the location of the fire," he explained.

The head office of PT Pegadaian caught fire on Sunday afternoon at around 12.20 WIB. The blackout process lasted for more than 4 hours and was declared completed at around 16.50 WIB.

"We received the news at 12.20 WIB and the launch of the total unit was 13 units along with supporters," he said.

The process of extinguishing the fire took a long time due to the dense smoke that soared. Firefighters who were dispatched to the location also had difficulty reaching the hotspots which were thought to have originated from the 3rd floor of the building.

"We received news that there was a lot of smoke coming out. The source of the fire was difficult to find because it was covered in thick smoke," he said.
