MALANG - Malang Police arrested the perpetrators of motor vehicle theft in the Malang City area, East Java, after monitoring the social media used by the perpetrators to sell the stolen goods.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for the Malang City Police, AKP Bayu Febrianto Prayoga said that three perpetrators were arrested, namely WD (35), MWR (26) and a middleman with the initials MRR (28).

Bayu explained that the arrests of the perpetrators began when there were reports of residents who had lost their motorbikes some time ago and then reported them to the officers armed with Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) recordings.

The perpetrators of WD and MWR are residents of Sekarpuro, Pakis District, Malang Regency. The two perpetrators were arrested by Satreskrim members along with evidence in the form of three motorbikes, T keys, wrenches, jackets and hats that were used when committing the theft.

The perpetrator of the theft was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.
