MEDAN - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) secured 141 kilograms of cannabis narcotics and arrested five suspects in Medan, North Sumatra.

Deputy for Eradication and Prosecution of the National Narcotics Agency, Inspector General Arman Depari, said that the five suspects arrested, namely MA, ZFK SWT, SA, and SMD were residents of Medan City.

Arman said the arrests of the suspects were made on Wednesday, November 11 evening. At that time, the BNN received information on the shipment of marijuana from Aceh to Medan.

"Then the BNN team conducted an investigation and arrested the Supreme Court while riding a motorcycle on Jalan Flamboyan Raya on suspicion of carrying marijuana. During the search, five kilograms of marijuana were found," said Arman as quoted by Antara, Saturday, November 14.

Arman explained, based on MA's statement, the BNN team developed the case to Gudang Kapur, Asam Kumbang Village, Medan Selayang District, Medan City.

In that place, an inspection and search was carried out and found 136 kg of dry cannabis planted (buried) in the ground.

"Then the BNN team arrested four other suspects, namely ZFK, SWT, SA and SMD)," he said.

Arman emphasized that the BNN team is still developing the findings of the drug goods, together with their networks and dealers.

"The BNN team also secured evidence in the form of a motorcycle and a number of cellphones belonging to the suspects," he said.

According to him, the 141 kg of cannabis type narcotics that are secured is planned to be distributed in Medan and several other areas in North Sumatra.

"Marijuana is sold to drug users in Medan, and when it runs out, it will be imported again from Aceh," said Arman.

According to him, Medan City and North Sumatra are high in drug abuse.

"In addition, the city of Medan is a transit point and the entry of narcotics is quite a lot. This needs to be a concern of the security forces in North Sumatra to eradicate the circulation of narcotics," said Arman.
