Head of the Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Asril Rizal, said that his party received reports from residents who contacted them at around 13.05 WIB.

"A total of 24 officers and six firefighters from Bendungan Hilir Post, Kebon Melati and Tanah Abang were dispatched to the location of the fire," Asril Rizal said when confirmed by reporters, Wednesday, August 3.

He said officers arrived at the scene of the fire five minutes later and immediately put out the fire.

"The fire was successfully localized for about 10 minutes and continued cooling. At around 13.25 WIB, the handling process was completed," he said.

Asril added that the fire was allegedly caused by an electrical short circuit from a room on the second floor that hit a pile of clothes and grabbed the walls of the house made of plywood.

"Residents saw a puff of smoke from the boarding room on the second floor. The loss was estimated at around Rp. 20 million," he said.
