PEKANBARU - Riau Governor Syamsuar asked the Inderagiri Hilir (Inhil) Regency Government to immediately relocate residents affected by abrasion in Simpang Tiga Village which resulted in 15 houses of residents being heavily damaged.

"As a solution for residents affected by abrasion, the Inhil Regency Government can build permanent buildings," Riau Governor Syamsuar said in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 1.

He said his party had built houses for residents affected by landslides and abrasion in other villages in Indragiri Hilir Regency. Meanwhile, in Simpang Tiga Village, Enok Subdistrict, he will check directly to the location, because there are landslide buildings that have been built by the Riau Provincial Government in other places, and there are also those that will be built again.

"God willing, on August 4, 2022 I will go to Inhil, only this effort is only temporary. Furthermore, the local government can find solutions for residents affected by abrasion and build permanent buildings," said Syamsuar.

Furthermore, the Inhil Regency Government needs to prepare new locations for affected residents to be moved to locations that are safe from landslides and abrasion.

Head of BPBD Riau, Edy Afrizal said that due to abrasion, damaged buildings in Simpang Tiga Village were recorded, such as houses, village facilities, patrol posts and drilled wells. In addition, the tower and facilities in the village were damaged.

"So heavy damage occurred to 15 units of residents' houses and dozens of public facilities, on Sunday (31/7) afternoon. Around 32 heads of families or around 150 residents lost their homes and were forced to evacuate. However, it is certain that there were no casualties from the disaster. ," he said.

Meanwhile, village buildings such as the Posyandu were also badly damaged by landslides. Edy said the people affected by the landslide were reluctant to occupy the refugee tents provided by the Riau BPBD.

"These affected residents prefer to evacuate to their relatives' houses which are not far from the location. Meanwhile, there are no fatalities and all residents have fled to their relatives' homes following logistical assistance that has been sent to the location," said Edy.

The location of the abrasion is right on the bank of the river, so that the residents' houses are damaged due to the soil falling and entering the river because it is only about 150 meters away.
