19 An Earthquake Fell On Mount Merapi This Morning

JAKARTA - Mount Merapi on the border of Central Java and Yogyakarta Special Region experienced 19 earthquake avalanches during the observation period on Friday, November 13 starting at 00: 00-06: 00 WIB.

Head of the Geological Disaster Technology Research and Development Center (BPPTKG) Hanik Humaida said the 19 avalanches had an amplitude of 5-80 mm and lasted 13.6-62.2 seconds.

In addition to earthquake avalanches, Mount Merapi also experienced 18 earthquake gusts with an amplitude of 3-20 mm for 14.1-30.2 seconds, 64 times a hybrid earthquake with an amplitude of 3-30 mm for 5.41-11 seconds, and 14 shallow volcanic earthquakes with an amplitude of 40-75 mm for 11.2-54.6 seconds

Based on visual observations at the top of Mount Merapi, the crater smoke was observed to be white with moderate to thick intensity and 75 meters high above the crater peak.

Reported by Antara, Friday, November 13, the weather on the mountain was sunny. The wind was blowing weak to moderate to the west. Air temperature 15-20.8 degrees Celsius, 66-89 percent humidity, and air pressure 626.77-687.9 mmHg.

The BPPTKG has raised the status of Mount Merapi to Level III or Alert. It is recommended that mining in the rivers that originate at Mount Merapi in a disaster prone area (KRB) III is recommended to stop.

BPPTKG asks tourism actors not to carry out tourism activities at KRB III, including climbing activities to the top of Mount Merapi.

The government of Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, Magelang Regency, Boyolali Regency and Klaten Regency, Central Java are also asked to prepare everything related to disaster mitigation efforts due to the eruption of Mount Merapi which can occur at any time.
