SOLO - The Solo City Police and the TNI have tightened security ahead of the opening ceremony of the XI 2022 ASEAN Para Games (APG) sports event which will be held at the Manahan Stadium, Solo, Central Java, Saturday, July 30.

Joint security forces from the TNI and Polri have been alerted for security both in the Manahan Stadium area which is the venue for the opening ceremony and 14 match arenas prepared for the 2022 APG which will be participated by 11 countries in Southeast Asia.

Solo Police Chief Kombes Pol Ade Safri Simanjuntak at the special opening ceremony and closing of the 2022 APG will involve 1,375 joint personnel from the TNI and Polri, where the Manahan Solo Stadium used will be treated the same as the previous Presidential Cup title.

Ade explained that in securing the opening of the APG, three rings were made, namely the first inside the Manahan Stadium, the second ring in the parking area of the stadium area and the third ring outside the stadium fence.

The fourth ring is the mobilizing security team or Task Force that will move to create conditions during the APG performance in Solo City.

"So there are three rings in the Manahan Stadium area and there is a mobile task force team that will carry out monitoring to ensure that Kamtibmas conditions remain conducive during APG," said Ade, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday.

Ade added that during the APG opening ceremony, the people who watched there were provisions for items that could be brought into the stadium.

"We will place TNI and Polri personnel to check all visitors who will enter the stadium," said the Police Chief.

In addition, security forces, both TNI and Polri, also secured and escorted APG participants who used 15 hotels in Solo, consisting of 13 hotels for athletes and officials, two other hotels for the committee from INASPOC, NPC and APSF.

"We will escort the athletes from the accommodation to the training arena, including the movement from the inn to the competition venues during the APG event," he said.

In addition, the joint team also carried out security for all infrastructure used to support APG 2022 in Solo.

There are around 2,000 APG 2022 participants from 11 countries namely Malaysia, Timor Leste, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Brunei Darussalam, and the host Indonesia.

At the event, it was confirmed that Vice President Ma'ruf Amin would attend and officially open APG 2022 at the Manahan Stadium, Solo, Central Java.
