BINTAN - Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bintan Regency, Riau Islands (Kepri), Romlah asked residents to be aware of the potential for strong winds in the local area.

"In the last few days, Bintan has been hit by strong winds," Romlah said in Bintan, Friday, July 29.

Romlah said strong winds hit Penaga Village, Teluk Bintan District, Thursday (28/7), at around 17.30 WIB.

Strong winds caused a tree to fall and hit a house of Azmi resident who lives in Belak Village, RT 06/RW 04, Penaga Village with the roof of the house heavily damaged.

"Strong winds have uprooted a large tree and hit a local resident's house," he said.

After the incident, he continued, the Bintan BPBD immediately moved to the scene of the case to evacuate the fallen tree and collect data regarding material losses suffered by the victim.

"There were no casualties, but we still need to be vigilant together," he said.

Romlah appealed to all residents in Bintan Regency to be more vigilant. Including coastal fishermen who will go to sea to be more careful, because lately it is very prone to strong wind disasters.
