Ganjar Pranowo Invites Cilacap Fishermen To Use BMKG Technology And Information

SEMARANG - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo invited fishermen in Cilacap Regency to take advantage of technology and maritime weather information issued by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) when going out to sea to look for fish.

This was conveyed by Ganjar when giving a virtual speech via Zoom at the opening of the 2022 Fisherman Weather Field School (SLCN) organized by the BMKG in Cilacap, Tuesday, July 26.

Ganjar assessed that the SLCN activity would increase fishermen's understanding of maritime weather information from the BMKG.

Thus, he said, fishermen will have sufficient literacy related to weather information issued by the BMKG, so that their safety while at sea can be maintained.

"Maybe even more than that, (because) it's not impossible that we can monitor or maybe know it early with science, so we can know where the fish are, what the weather conditions are like, maybe or not then we go to sea, approx. Will you be able to get a catch or not," said Ganjar as quoted by Antara.

Ganjar said, in a multidisciplinary manner, it could be combined because when his party spoke with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP). The KKP said that fishermen should not be asked to look for fish, but were asked to catch fish.

In this case, he said, fishermen are invited to use technology to find fish in the sea.

"Thus the fish finder can be used, so that (there is) efficiency in its management at sea, then the fuel (fuel oil, ed.) is more efficient," he said.

Therefore, he said, the SLCN held by the BMKG in Cilacap is so important because now the weather changes are not clear.

"It's like it's unclear when the Ukraine-Russia war will end. This is equally unclear, because it's not clear that everything is confused, energy is confused, food is confused," he said.

In the context of the field school, Ganjar hopes that fishermen can be much more resilient and tenacious.

"Then if we talk about the President's order (President Joko Widodo, ed.) to strengthen, once again strengthen our food security to our food sovereignty, then actually the role of friends in the maritime world, specifically for fishermen, is very important," said the number one person. in Central Java.

On that occasion, Governor Ganjar mentioned the existence of the Mino Saroyo Village Unit Cooperative (KUD) in Cilacap which has extraordinary achievements because the fishermen's cooperative is well managed.

According to him, KUD Mino Saroyo manages eight fish auction places (TPI) and overall the results are quite good.

"Well, if it can improve the welfare of fishermen, it will certainly be extraordinary. I want to see it too and if I'm not mistaken, the President is preparing a visit," said Ganjar.
