Crush! China Says US Needs To Promote Peace In Ukraine, Not Label Russia A Terrorist State

JAKARTA - Washington should help promote Russia-Ukraine dialogue for peace instead of seeking to include Russia on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhao Lijian said Monday.

"The United States must create favorable conditions for advancing Russia-Ukraine peace talks. Washington must take steps to facilitate a political settlement of the crisis in Ukraine," he told TASS, as quoted July 25.

That answers the question of how Beijing views the situation regarding the United States government's plan to label Russia a sponsor of terrorism.

Chinese diplomats say Beijing sees a peace deal as the only effective way to defuse tensions in Ukraine.

"Washington must take more steps that will have a positive impact on the political settlement," he said.

Previously, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Democrat, California) in a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized that if the State Department did not declare Russia a sponsor of terrorism over the situation in Ukraine, her agency would do so.

According to the Politico newspaper, the two politicians discussed the matter last week. In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin did not like this plan.

"However, on the other hand, it is very difficult to do something that can make relations between Russia and the US worse," he stressed.
