The Ideal Candidate Criteria For Surya Paloh's Version: If The Question Of Quality Is Relative, But Consistent In Speech And Deeds Adds Value

MALANG - Chairman of the NasDem Party Surya Paloh revealed a number of ideal criteria for presidential candidates who will contest the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

After receiving the Honoris Causa (HC) Doctorate in Political Sociology from Brawijaya University (UB), Malang City, East Java, Surya Paloh said that one of the criteria for an ideal president is that the figure is consistent between what he says and what he does.

"Consistent in words and actions and able to provide added value based on his example, behavior and attitude. If we talk about qualified people, that is very relative," said Surya Paloh as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 25.

Paloh explained that whoever will run in the 2024 Presidential Election, he really hopes that this figure can give the spirit of sacrifice to become Indonesia's leader in the future.

According to him, a humble attitude to build the life of the nation and state in Indonesia, which is reflected in daily life, is one of the important criteria for the figure of a presidential candidate.

"Daily behavior there is humility, not low self-esteem, can be populist, and offer thoughts with lots of smiles, not angry," he said.

According to Paloh, the Indonesian people are currently considered longing for the presence of a friendly figure to lead the nation. In addition, of course, there are other criteria such as the parameters of the principle of decency and propriety for the presidential candidate.

"This suave figure is the part that is needed right now. When everything is tight, the leaders, the party elite are tight, and angry, I think all life is ruined," he said.

Surya Paloh hopes that the presidential candidates who will contest the 2024 General Election will not spread anger and demean each other. He hopes that these candidates can bring Indonesia forward.

"Not with insults between us, each other, demeaning each other. That is a common concern. We must support a more conducive atmosphere so that this nation moves forward," he said.

He confirmed that he would not run as a presidential candidate in the 2024 General Election. He believes that many national figures and children have been projected to contest in the 2024 General Election.

"We have understood together that there have been many efforts and efforts to present the nation's children who are projected to become our presidential candidates. Personally, I did not (run)," he said.
