KPK Executes Off Langkat Regent Bribery Publish Plan To Ward Wind To Medan Prison

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) executed Muara Warin Angin as the Director of CV Nizhami to the Class I Correctional Institution (Lapas) Medan based on a decision that has permanent legal force.

Muara is a convict of bribing the inactive Regent of Langkat Publishing the Warin Angin Plan in the bribery case related to the activities of the procurement of goods and services for 2020-2022 in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra (North Sumatra).

"Executor Prosecutor Medi Iskandar Zulkarnain has finished carrying out the execution of a decision that has permanent legal force with the convict Muara Warin Angin," said Acting KPK Spokesman Ali Fikri in Jakarta, Monday, July 25.

Ali said the convict Muara would serve a prison term of 2 years and 6 months minus the detention period that had been served during the investigation process.

"In addition, the convict is also burdened with the obligation to pay a criminal fine of Rp. 200 million," said Ali.

Muara was proven to have committed an act based on the first indictment of Article 5 paragraph 1 letter b of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.

The verdict is the same as the demands of the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) who demanded Muara 2.5 years in prison plus a fine of Rp. 200 million, subsidiary to 4 months in prison.

In that case, the panel of judges assessed that Muara was proven to have bribed Terbit in the amount of IDR 572 million related to the construction of a number of work packages at the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office and the Langkat District Education Office in 2021.
