JIS Spectator Barrier Collapses, PDIP Doubts Construction Quality

JAKARTA - Member of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Gilbert Simanjuntak, commented on the barrier to the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) stands that collapsed during the Grand Launching yesterday.

Gilbert doubted the quality of the international-class stadium construction. He suspected that the construction of the stadium with a budget of around Rp. 4 trillion was not carried out optimally.

"I think this is a shameful incident. The impression that arises is that the quality of work (the construction of JIS) is lacking," Gilbert said in a short message, Monday, July 25.

Gilbert also asked the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan to re-examine the work on the JIS which had just been inaugurated. This is necessary so that similar incidents do not happen again.

"It must also be investigated what causes it, whether because of the quality of the work or other elements. It is better if other qualities are also checked," said Gilbert.

For information, the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) tribune barrier suddenly broke in the middle of the grand launching event. Anies responded to the collapse of the tribune barrier. The former Minister of Education and Culture said this was due to the enthusiasm of the people, especially supporters of Persija or The Jakmania.

"The fence (collapsed, ed), I think the enthusiasm was quite high," said Anies at a press conference at JIS.

He did not want to talk further about the collapse of the fence which caused the officer to carry The Jakmania as he fainted.

Anies invited the President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Widi Amanasto to answer further. However, he said this incident is expected to be a lesson for many parties.

"So this is part of the learning process, the so-called learning process even meets all the challenges if the analogy is growing pain," said Anies.

"Growing pain is (like, red) teeth growing. If a tooth grows, the doctor will not say it is a disease, but the natural process of growth is the same as this," he continued.

Meanwhile, Widi also stated the same thing. He said the enthusiasm of The Jakmania had broken the barrier between the stands.

However, PT Jakpro did not make a problem and was proud because everyone was excited and enthusiastic about the presence of the stadium.

"Jakmania's enthusiasm is extraordinary. We are proud," he said.
