TANJUNGPINANG - The Tanjungpinang City Government, Riau Islands (Kepri), appealed to its residents not to carry out activities in the Batu 10 Garden area in Air Raja Village, as crocodiles were found in the swamps of the area.

"People are advised not to carry out any activities in the area to avoid things they want to happen," said Tanjungpinang Mayor Rahma, as reported by ANTARA, Sunday, July 24.

Rahma received reports from residents that crocodiles often appeared on the surface of the stone garden swamp 10. It even went viral on various social media platforms, Saturday (23/7).

He has also asked the kelurahan to put up a sign prohibiting residents from doing activities in the crocodile-prone area.

Meanwhile, Air Chief Raja Ibnu Roji said that his party and related agencies had immediately conducted a review of the location of the crocodile's findings.

"We saw straight away, it was true that there were crocodiles at that location," said Ibnu.

His party has also coordinated with the Tanjungpinang City Fire and Rescue Service (DPKP) to follow up directly in the field.

In addition, the kelurahan has also given an appeal letter to the head of RW.004 and the head of RT.001 to urge residents not to do activities such as fishing, bathing, or playing in the area.

"We ask for the cooperation of the RT and RW to convey this appeal to its citizens to avoid crocodile-human conflicts," he said.

The Air Raja Village, together with Bhabinkamtibmas and RT, have also installed a signboard containing a ban on playing in the area as directed by the Mayor of Tanjungpinang Rahma.
