5 Suspects In Drug Cases In North Sumatra Threatened With Death Penalty, Evidence Of 68.67 Kg Of Shabu And 59 Thousand Ecstasy Pills

MEDAN - Five suspects in the case of methamphetamine and ecstasy pills in North Sumatra face the death penalty or life imprisonment. The five were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) subsidiary Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

Head of the North Sumatra BNNP Brigadier General Toga H Panjaitan revealed that his party secured evidence of 68.67 kg of methamphetamine and 59,053 ecstasy pills.

He said the destroyed evidence was the result of the disclosure of two cases with five suspects.

Most of the evidence has been destroyed. The rest is used as evidence in court.

The destroyed narcotics were obtained from the arrest of the first case on June 21, 2022 and managed to arrest two suspects, namely S (44) and RS (40) who are residents of Teluk Nibung District, Tanjung Balai City, North Sumatra.

"The two suspects also seized evidence of 59,053 ecstasy pills and 29 kg of crystal methamphetamine," he said.

Meanwhile, the arrest of the second case on July 6, 2022, with three suspects arrested, each A (41) a resident of Aceh Tamiang, HH (36) a resident of Sei Tualang Raso Subdistrict, Tanjung Balai City, and AS (36) a resident of Datuk Subdistrict. Bandar, Tanjung Balai City, North Sumatra.

"From the three suspects, officers confiscated evidence of narcotics of the type of methamphetamine weighing 40 kg," said the head of the North Sumatra BNNP again.
