JAKARTA - Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi confirmed that currently preparations for the G20 Summit were ongoing.

One of the steps taken by Retno ahead of the summit which will take place in Bali in November 2022 is to exchange notes with Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati regarding the implementation of the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting in early July and the G20 Finance Ministers Meeting which was only held last week.

"From the two meetings, we have tried to start preparations for the G20 summit more intensively," said Retno as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 21.

According to Retno, the support from the G20 countries for the Indonesian presidency was seen during the implementation of the two ministerial level meetings.

"We appreciate the strong support of all G20 member countries," he said.

As the largest economy in Southeast Asia, said Retno, Indonesia has a responsibility to continue to contribute to efforts to make Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific a peaceful, stable and prosperous region.

"In the midst of a world situation filled with unhealthy rivalries and the diminishing value of multilateralism, Indonesia will actually be more active in establishing cooperation and spreading the spirit of solidarity and peace," said Retno.

As President of this year's G20, Indonesia targets all preparations for the summit, which will be attended by leaders from 20 countries and the world's largest economic region, to be completed in October 2022.

Preparation covers various fields, including infrastructure and logistics, protocol and security, health, and especially the substance of the meeting itself.
