KPK Asks One Suspect In Corruption Case In Mandala Krida Stadium Construction In Yogyakarta Cooperative

KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata announced the determination of three suspects in the alleged corruption in the construction of Yogyakarta's Mandala Krida Stadium.

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named three suspects in the alleged corruption in the construction of the Mandala Krida Stadium in Yogyakarta.

However, the President Director of PT Permata Nirwana Nusantara (PNN), Heri Sukamto did not attend and was asked to cooperate.

"For suspect HS, the KPK appeals to be cooperative in attending the next summons which will be immediately sent by the investigative team," said KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata at the KPK Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, July 21.

Apart from Heri, the KPK also named two suspects and made arrests. They are the Head of the Special Education Division of the Yogyakarta Education, Youth and Sports Office as well as Commitment Making Officer Edy Wahyudi and the President Director of PT Arsigrapi, Sugiharto.

Alexander said the two suspects, namely Edy Wahyudi, were detained at the KPK Detention Center in Lot C1 of the ACLC Building. Meanwhile, Sugiharto will stay in the KPK Detention Center at Pomdam Jaya Guntur.

The KPK ensures that sufficient preliminary evidence has been held by investigators. This allegation of corruption occurred in 2012 when the Youth and Sports Center (BPO) at the Yogyakarta Provincial Education, Youth and Sports Office proposed the renovation of the Mandalika Krida Stadium.

From the proposal, Alexander said, the stadium renovation budget was included in the BPO budget allocation for the program to improve sports facilities and infrastructure.

"Then EW as the official who made the commitment to BPO at the DIY Provincial Education, Youth and Sports Office allegedly unilaterally appointed PT AG directly with SGH as the President Director to arrange the procurement planning stages," he said.

During the process, the KPK suspected that there had been a mark-up or budget inflation. The budget prepared for the work for five years reaches Rp135 billion.

Then in 2016, a budget of Rp. 41.8 billion was prepared and in 2017 a budget of Rp. 45.5 billion was prepared.

"This budget increase was also immediately approved by Edy without conducting a study first," said Alexander.

In his presentation, the KPK said that the Director of PT PNN, Heri Sukamto, also met the auction committee for the renovation work. From this meeting, Edy immediately approved Heri's company without evaluating the completeness of the required documents for bidders.

As a result of their actions, these three suspects are suspected of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999. on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
