After Being Invited To Eat For Free, This Woman Stole Money And ATM Belonging To Her Friend In The House

TANGERANG - The Tangerang Police Satreskrim arrested a woman with the initials PL (20) a resident of Talaga Village, Cikupa District, Tangerang Regency, who stole money from her friend's ATM card, RU (20), Thursday, July 21.

Tangerang Police Chief Kombes Raden Romdhon explained that the victim and suspect were close friends, even though their homes were not far apart.

"The suspect and the victim know each other, they come from the same area, and are indeed friends," said Raden in a written statement, Thursday, July 21.

Raden explained the chronology of the incident. On Tuesday, July 12, the suspect visited the victim's house to fulfill the victim's invitation to eat together. After eating the food, the victim went to the kitchen to wash the dishes.

At that time, still explained by Raden, the suspect took Rp200 thousand in cash and the victim's ATM card in his wallet.

When the victim finished washing the dishes, the suspect asked the victim's date of birth. Without suspecting the victim mentioned the date, month, and year of birth.

“After washing the dishes, the suspect asked the victim's date of birth, without suspecting the victim mentioned the date, month and year of birth. It turned out that the suspect was trying to find out the victim's ATM card PIN," said Raden.

Raden continued. After the suspect returned home, the victim did not realize that his money and ATM card were stolen. However, continued Raden, the victim realized that his money and ATM card were missing.

"The victim checked M-banking, and the ATM balance was reduced by Rp. 7,400,000 and the victim contacted the bank's customer service and got instructions on where to withdraw money from the ATM," explained Raden.

Raden explained, the victim reported the incident to the police. The officer then checked the CCTV camera footage, from the CCTV camera it was known that the perpetrator of the withdrawal of money was a suspect PL. The victim was shocked because he did not think his own friend was the culprit.

"Then we secured the PL suspect along with evidence of the clothes worn during the action, the victim's ATM card, and the remaining five million in cash," said Raden.

The suspect PL was charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with a penalty of 5 years in prison.
