West Java Police Investigate Cases Of 46 Calhaj Furoda Deported

BANDUNG - The West Java Regional Police (Polda) began investigating a travel company suspected of being illegal which caused 46 furoda hajj candidates (calhaj) to be deported from Saudi Arabia.

The Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Kombes Ibrahim Tompo, said that so far his party had not received any reports from the hajj candidates or parties who were harmed by the deportation. However, he said the investigation was still ongoing.

"So, until now, no police report has been made, but we are still conducting an investigation," said Ibrahim in Bandung, West Java, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 20.

He said his party was conducting an investigation to look for evidence and clues related to criminal allegations. If there is a criminal element, according to him, the police will take action.

So far, the police have not yet examined witnesses in this case. However, it is possible that a travel company, PT Alfatih, will also be summoned for inspection.

"Later, when the investigation is done, we will go through the stages for inspections," he said.

Previously, the location of the PT Alfatih office was known to be in the Lembang area, West Bandung Regency, West Java. However, the company is not registered as a Special Hajj Organizer (PIHK) at the West Java Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion.

The West Java Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) also appealed to the public or prospective hajj pilgrims who felt aggrieved by the travel company to report to the police.
