BMKG: Wet Drought In Bandung Can Make Clean Water Difficult

BANDUNG - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that residents in the Bandung City area need to be aware of the wet dry season which will begin in July 2022 because it can make it difficult to get clean water.

Young Meteorology and Geophysics Observer (PMG) Bandung City BMKG Data and Information Yan F Permadhi the factor in the occurrence of this wet drought is due to the active La Nina which has been running since last year.

“In this wet dry season, residents must be aware of hydrometeorological disasters such as floods and strong winds. In fact, in the future there could be droughts to the point of having clean water. That's what residents have to prepare," said Yan at Bandung City Hall, West Java, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 20.

In the past few days, such as July 15-16, 2022, according to him, the city of Bandung has been raining all day even though it is now in the dry season.

According to Yan, this phenomenon comes from the negative Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) and equatorial waves. This also causes the temperature conditions in the city of Bandung to be classified as colder than usual.

"In the city of Bandung, the cold temperature is now 17 degrees Celsius. In fact, in Lembang it is up to 14 degrees," he said.

However, according to him, the condition of the La Nina factor so far has begun to weaken. He said his neutral forecast of weather conditions would occur in September 2022.

For the Bandung City area, he predicts that many hydrometeorological disasters will occur, namely inundation floods.

In addition, residents must always maintain their health due to very high temperature changes, from hot to cold or vice versa.

"This change in temperature makes our stamina decrease quickly. It is hoped that Bandung residents need to be aware of various diseases that often attack in the transition season," said Yan.
