JAKARTA - The T50i Golden Eagle fighter aircraft from the 15th Air Squadron of the Indonesian Air Force based at the Indonesian Air Force Main Air Base Iswahyudi, Madiun, East Java, reportedly lost contact during a night flight practice.

According to him, the multi-function light fighter plane flown by Flight Lieutenant Safitra Indra (an AAU graduate in 2015) took off at around 18.24 WIB.

"But lost, lost contact, at 19.25 WIB. The plane was carrying out a night tactical intercept mission," said Pramono.

Currently, he continued, the team is looking for a fighter aircraft made by the Korea Aerospace Industry in collaboration with Lockheed Martin and its crew pilots to the location where the plane is suspected to have crashed.

On August 10, 2020, a T-50i Golden Eagle from the 15th Air Squadron of the Indonesian Air Force also failed to take off during a routine training flight session at the Indonesian Air Force Main Air Base Iswahyudi. The pilot in command on the training flight was Flight Major Luluk T Prabowo who was also the instructor, who brought his student, Flight Lieutenant Muhammad Zacky. Prabowo died in the Indonesian military flight accident.

The Indonesian Air Force is the first user outside of North Korea of a fighter plane whose silhouette is very similar to the F-16 Fighting Falcon. Indonesia purchased the T-50i Golden Eagle in two terms of purchase, namely in 2014 (16 units) and 2021 (six units).

Previously, an airplane was reported to have crashed in the Nginggil Village area, Kradenan, Blora Regency, Central Java, on Monday night. The Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Commissioner of Police M Iqbal Alqudusy, said that this was true even though it was not explained in detail.
