Accident Involving Transjakarta Bus Occurs Again Even Though It Has Been Evaluated, Chairman Of DPRD: Being Informed Is Also Useless

JAKARTA - A number of accidents have involved Transjakarta buses again in the last few days. In fact, this accident resulted in fatalities.

In fact, Transjakarta has been summoned by the DKI Jakarta DPRD and carried out an evaluation involving external parties after a series of bus accidents at the end of 2021.

In response to this, the Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, assessed that the DKI BUMD which manages and operates this public transportation has still not been able to correct its mistakes.

"About the Transjakarta accident, being informed (by the DKI DPRD) is also useless. It has not been heeded until now. How many times have you been called but it keeps happening, how?" said Prasetyo when contacted, Monday, July 18.

According to Prasetyo, Transjakarta should be able to improve itself after the accidents that often occurred a few months ago. The operational system to resource management, such as setting the working hours of Transjakarta drivers, he continued, should be improved.

"It must be controlled operationally in and out, bus drivers have their health checked proportionally. Why do collisions happen many times, there must be a cause," explained Prasetyo.

For information, in the last eight days, there have been three accidents involving Transjakarta buses. On Sunday, July 10 at 14.00 WIB, a Transjakarta bus grazed a cyclist at Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

Then on Monday, July 11 at 17.05 WIB, a Transjakarta bus ran over a motorcyclist near the Sunter Karya Bus Stop, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. Then, on Saturday, July 16 at 22.00 WIB, the Transjakarta bus hit a woman who had just gotten off from Bus at Kramat Sentiong Bus Stop, Central Jakarta. The three victims of the bus crash from each of these incidents are known to have died.
