JAKARTA - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Tangerang City, Banten, evacuated a resident who was about to give birth at the Puri Kartika Ciledug Housing complex when housing conditions were flooded.
Head of Public Relations Bureau of PMI Tangerang City Ade Kurniawan said the evacuation was carried out by officers at around 05.00 WIB on Saturday, July 16, after reports from residents about a pregnant woman about to give birth.
Furthermore, PMI Tangerang City together with Basarnas and PMI Ciledug District coordinated and evacuated the pregnant women to the Mitra Keluarga Bintaro Hospital.
During the evacuation process, officers must be careful because housing conditions are currently being affected by flooding due to heavy rains that have occurred from Friday afternoon to evening.
"Alhamdulillah, the officers have evacuated to the hospital and the condition is good. All thanks to the support of all parties," he said, quoted by Antara.
Ade also appealed to people who need help during current flood conditions to contact the emergency services at 112 or the Tangerang city PMI hotline.
Currently, all officers and volunteers have been alerted to assist the evacuation process of residents in need in flood conditions.
"We are also preparing health workers to ensure that residents who remain at home waiting for the flood to subside are safe," he said.
