Komnas HAM Reminds Police To Be Transparent In Revealing The Case Of Brigadier J

JAKARTA - Member of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) Beka Ulung Hapsara reminded the National Police to be transparent in disclosing the case of a shootout between members of the National Police at the home of the Head of the Profession and Security Division (Kadiv Propam) Inspector General Ferdy Sambo.

"Of course this incident must be disclosed transparently and provide justice for all," said Beka Ulung Hapsara, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 14.

According to Beka, the disclosure and resolution of the deadly incident will affect the performance of the National Police and the public.

Beka said the case had an impact on society. Therefore, there must be preventive measures so that the same thing does not repeat itself.

The Coordinator of the Sub-Commission for the Advancement of Human Rights/Commissioner for Education and Extension 2020-2022 stated that his party did not join the special team formed by the National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo to maintain independence.

In investigating the shooting incident, Komnas HAM worked independently in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and internal mechanisms within the institution.

He emphasized that Komnas HAM functions as an internal police oversight agency. However, because Law Number 39 of 1999 concerning Human Rights is an independent state institution.

This Komnas HAM member said that his party would continue to work closely with the National Police in overseeing the completion of the case to produce recommendations for the police.

"We are trying to answer the public as soon as possible," he emphasized.

Previously, the National Police Chief formed a special team to complete the investigation into the shootout case between members of the National Police on Tuesday (12/7).

In addition to involving the internal and external work units of the National Police, the team also involved the Provost and Internal Security (Paminal) of the Police. Meanwhile, the external elements are the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) and Komnas HAM.

Involvement of external elements of the National Police, namely Kompolnas and Komnas HAM, to ensure that the steps of the Timsus are transparent, objective and accountable.

Timsus works by emphasizing scientific crime investigation to get conclusions from the results of investigations and investigations that are complete and open to the public.

The shooting between members of the National Police took place at the Office of the Head of the Propam Police Headquarters, Inspector General Pol. Ferdy Sambo, Duren Tiga Police Complex Number 46, Pancoran, South Jakarta, Friday (8/7) at 17.00 WIB.

The two members are Brigadier Pol. Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat (Brigadir J) Adjutant Drive Caraka (ADV) Wife of the Police Propam Division Head and Bharada E, ADV Head of the National Police Propam Division. The incident resulted in Brigadier Pol. Nopryansah was shot and killed with seven bullet holes in her body.

It was stated that the incident was motivated by allegations of harassment and pointing a gun by the wife of the Head of the Propam Police Division, Putri Ferdy Sambo.
