Medical Mask And Gloves Manufacturing Company Announces 17 Employees Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - The well-known Malaysian glove company Top Glove Corporation Bhd confirmed the positive diagnosis of 17 of its employees. Top Glove Corporation Bhd. Is one of the largest companies in the production of health support equipment, such as rubber gloves and masks, which are now widely used to prevent transmission of COVID-19.

These 17 employees have even tested positive since the outbreak began in Malaysia in January 2020. The seventeen employees represent less than 0.1 percent of the total workforce of 21 thousand at Top Glove.

In a statement to the media in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, November 5, the company said the employees affected by the coronavirus were asymptomatic and most of them had no fever.

Those infected have been separated after swab tests were carried out on Monday, November 2. And since then they have been hospitalized for treatment after the results showed positive.

Disinfectants have carried out thorough cleaning and sanitizing of the affected factories, as well as residences and company vehicles, in accordance with guidelines from the health ministry, the company said.

At the same time, contact tracing was being carried out and employees identified as being in close contact with the employee were tested and quarantined at home pending the results. They stated that there was no impact of infected employees on the operation of Top Glove.

"We want to reiterate that the safety and well-being of employees and external partners is very important to us, and we have implemented various standard operating procedures (SOPs) to help suppress the spread of this virus," he said.

Top Glove is a Malaysian rubber glove manufacturer which also specializes in the production of face masks, condoms and various other products. The company owns and operates 46 manufacturing facilities in Malaysia, Thailand, China and Vietnam.
