13-Year-Old Teen Disappears In The Current While Bathing At Ujung Batee Beach

BANDA ACEH - The National SAR Agency (Basarnas) team is looking for a 13-year-old teenager who was reported missing while bathing in the sea at Ujung Batee Beach, Mesjid Raya District, Aceh Besar District.

Head of the Banda Aceh Basarnas, Ibnu Harris Al Hussain in Banda Aceh, Wednesday, July 12, said the victim was Muhammad Romodhon (13), a resident of Ujung Batee Perumnas, Mesjid Raya District, Aceh Besar District.

"The victim was reported to have drowned and disappeared after being carried away by the current. At that time, the victim was bathing in the sea and swimming with her friends at Ujung Beach, Tuesday, July 12 at around 16.00 WIB," said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain, quoted by Antara.

He said Basarnas had dispatched a search team after receiving reports of victims drowning and missing in the current. The search was carried out by combing the waters of Ujung Batee Beach using a rubber boat.

"The search was also carried out on land by combing the beach. The search was carried out until 21.00 WIB, but the victim was not found. The search was continued Wednesday (13/7) morning," he said.

According to Ibnu Harris Al Hussain, the search was divided into two teams. The first team again combed the waters of Ujung Batee Beach using two boats because the plan was to be two nautical miles from the last point the victim was seen.

Meanwhile, the second team conducted a ground combing along Ujung Batee Beach, with a plan to be two kilometers from the last point the victim was seen, he said.

"In addition to the Basarnas team, the search also involved personnel from the Sector Police and Koramil for the Grand Mosque, Brimob Police for Aceh, Polairud Polda Aceh, BPBD Aceh Besar, and the local community. The search was also equipped with diving equipment," said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain.
