Jabodetabek Cancels PPKM Level 2 And Returns To Level 1, This Is The Government's Reason

JAKARTA - The government has canceled the implementation of Level 2 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Jabodetabek for the next four weeks. Now, DKI Jakarta and its buffer areas are again implementing PPKM Level 1.

This is stated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 35 of 2022 concerning PPKM on COVID-19 Conditions in the Java and Bali Region which was issued on July 5, 2022.

This Inmendagri revokes Inmendagri Number 33 of 2022 concerning PPKM Level 2 and Level 1 COVID-19 in the Java and Bali Region which was signed the day before, namely July 4, 2022.

The Director General of Regional Administration of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal ZA, confirmed this. Safrozal explained that the government saw a flattening trend which indicated the Jabodetabek agglomeration area had passed the peak of COVID-19 cases.

"After conducting a review and assessment of these conditions, considering that the Ministry of Home Affairs will pass for 1 month, taking into account the cases that have started to slope and are expected to return to level 1, and the hospitalization and death rates are still low and under control, we decided to revise the level. PPKM agglomeration areas become level 1," explained Safrizal to reporters, Wednesday, July 6.

Safrizal said that the revision of the Minister of Home Affairs was carried out with the aim of maintaining a balance between health care and economic recovery.

"With these developments, we estimate that the Jabodetabek agglomeration area can return to level 1 in the next 1 or 2 weeks. This step is taken to maintain the health aspect by paying attention to the trend of continuing economic recovery," he explained.

Previously, according to Inmendagri Number 33 of 2022, a number of regions experienced an increase in the level of assessment from PPKM Level 1 to Level 2. Namely the Jabodetabek agglomeration areas such as DKI Jakarta Province, Tangerang City, Tangerang Regency, South Tangerang City, Bogor City, Bekasi City, Depok City. , Bogor Regency, and Bekasi Regency which for the previous six weeks implemented PPKM Level 1.

In the implementation of PPKM Level 2, there is a maximum capacity limitation of 75 percent for a number of activities such as working in the office or work from office (WFO) in the non-essential sector, schools, visits to malls, restaurants, gyms, cinemas, supermarkets, shops, markets, places of worship, public facilities, social activities, to wedding receptions.

However, the capacity for public transportation, construction activities, as well as essential and critical sector offices in the Level 2 PPKM area remains 100 percent.
