So Prabowo's Vice Presidential Candidate, PKB Mentions Cak Imin's Name In Gerindra's 'pocket'

JAKARTA - The National Awakening Party (PKB) has named General Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin as a candidate for vice presidential candidate to accompany Gerindra Chair Prabowo Subianto.

This was said by the Deputy Chairperson of the PKB, Jazilul Fawaid in response to the Gerindra Party which had already pocketed the name of the vice presidential candidate for Prabowo. It is known, Gerindra and PKB have agreed to form the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition.

"God willing, (Cak Imin's name) will come in," Jazilul told reporters, Wednesday, July 6. Jazilul revealed that PKB had given Cak Imin a mandate to run as a presidential candidate. However, he said, the matter of the position of the presidential or vice presidential candidates will be discussed between the two general leaders. "PKB gave Gus Muhaimin a mandate to run for president. It's just a matter of discussing it together between PKB and Gerindra when the time comes, between Mas Bowo and Gus Muhaimin," he said.

The Deputy Chairperson of the MPR hoped that there would be mutually beneficial cooperation between PKB and Gerindra in determining the presidential and vice presidential candidates. He likens their cooperation to flowers and bees. "In my opinion, PKB and Gerindra work together in a symbiotic mutualism framework, giving each other roles, like flowers and bees. Including in determining the cawapres candidate," he concluded.

Gerindra Has Pocketed the Name of Prabowo's Vice Presidential Candidate The Gerindra Party is unanimous in wanting to carry Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election. In fact, the name of the vice presidential candidate who will accompany Prabowo has also been pocketed.

Gerindra DPP Daily Chair Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said at the National Meeting which will be held next August, Prabowo will be asked for his willingness to answer the aspirations of cadres who want to carry him as a presidential candidate.

"So the mechanism at the Gerindra Party is that the forum for bringing up the name of the presidential candidate must be done at a forum at the national meeting level, namely at the National Meeting, in the National Rapporteur, Pak Prabowo will then be asked or answered about the availability, nominated by the Gerindra Party," said Dasco at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, 5 July.

Dasco emphasized that until now only Prabowo is the sole candidate for presidential candidate that will be carried by Gerindra. The deputy chairman of the DPR RI said that all DPPs agreed to carry Prabowo in 2024. "Yes, so far, only a single candidate from the Gerindra Party has been proposed, by the DPP representing cadres throughout Indonesia," he said. Dasco said it would only be discussed after the Gerindra Rapimnas in August 2022. Although, he said, the name of the vice presidential candidate was already pocketed by Gerindra.

"I can't talk about the cawapres issue further, because, according to the articles of association, this will be discussed after the national meeting, even though the name is already in the pocket," explained Dasco.
