Ahmad Yani Does Not Fulfill The Summons Of The Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Lawyer: Unclear Summons

JAKARTA - The Executive Committee for the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (WE), Ahmad Yani, did not fulfill the summons for investigations regarding cases of alleged hate speech and incitement on social media. Ahmad Yani was originally examined as a witness to the development of suspect Anton Permana.

A member of Ahmad Yani's team of lawyers, Maj. Gen. TNI (ret.) Syamsu Djalal said that his client's absence was due to the unclear summons sent by investigators.

"Please correct the police summons, he is a witness, whether the witness is not clear, what case and who is the suspect, that's why we came here," said Djalal to reporters, Tuesday, November 3.

Djalal hopes that the summons against Ahmad Yani will be corrected. "If we want to check now, I don't understand. That's why we are here to convey this," he said.

Responding to the statement, Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division Brigadier General Awi Setiyono said that in making the summons the investigators had followed the applicable rules.

"We say that all this time investigators are in accordance with the existing SOP, in accordance with investigation management and in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code," said Awi.

Meanwhile, about Ahmad Yani's reasons for calling the summons incomplete, Awi said this was his right. However, in the near future investigators will send further summons.

"If the person concerned is called not present, of course the next call will be sent," he said.

In this case, Bareskrim Polri named 9 people as suspects for the spread of hate speech and incitement related to the chaos of demonstrations against the Job Creation Law.

Of the 9 people, 7 of them are members and high-ranking WE, including Syahganda Nainggolan, Anton Permana, Jumhur Hidayat, Juliana, Devi, Khairi Amri, Wahyu Rasari Putri.

As for the other two, namely former PKS legislative candidates Kingkin Anida and Dedy Wahyudi, the owner of the social media account @podoradong.

They were suspected of having different articles. However, in general they are charged with the ITE Law, articles on hate speech and the spread of hoaxes.
