2 Children In Cirebon Drowning While Playing In The River

CIREBON - The SAR team is searching for two children in Cirebon Regency, West Java, who drowned while playing in the Cimanis River. But because it was late at night, it was temporarily stopped.

"Our search has been temporarily suspended, because it is already night, and will continue tomorrow," said Cirebon SAR Post Rescue Team Commander Edy Pamungkas, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 5.

Edy said that his party received reports from residents that two children who were swimming in the Cimanis River, Lemahabang District, Cirebon Regency, drowned. The two children are named Adam (11) and Riko (11).

Currently, the team has found one victim named Riko who was found dead. While Adam is still in search.

According to him, the search for victims was hampered by the depth of the river which reached 4-6 meters, and also the number of twigs at the bottom of the river.

"The water depth is 4-6 meters and a lot of roots and wood are our obstacles," he said.

Basarnas Pos SAR Cirebon dispatched five personnel, assisted by the Cirebon Police Polair, SAR potential and the local community.

The team will search again the next day, and it is hoped that the victim will be found soon.

"We will resume searching for victims tomorrow morning," he said.
