A King Cobra Snake Measuring 2 Meters Long Was Evacuated From Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta

JAKARTA - A King Cobra snake was successfully evacuated by officers from the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. after it was reported that it had panicked residents in the Duren Sawit area, East Jakarta on Saturday, July 2, at 20.20 WIB.

"The report was received on Saturday July 2 at around 19.51 WIB. The reporter was a resident named Alfian," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Gatot Sulaeman, Sunday, July 3.

After receiving the report, the Gulkarmat Sub-dept. deployed 4 rescue members to evacuate the snakes.

"Snakes were evacuated from the Billymoon Complex area, RT 01/06, Pondok Kelapa Village, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta," he said.

The snake evacuation process only takes 10 minutes. Furthermore, the snake was successfully evacuated by officers and secured.

"The snake is a King Cobra species with a length of 2 meters. The position of the snake is behind the parking castings. The snake is caught using a snake tongs tool," he said.

Initially, the existence of the snake was discovered by a resident. He saw a snake crossing the parking lot of a campus in the Duren Sawit area.

"So initially the snake was wedged between the concrete. The evacuation went smoothly, there were no casualties or injuries. The snake was successfully evacuated," he said.

The snake will later be released back into its habitat or handed over to reptile observers.
