SURABAYA - Commission D for People's Welfare at the Surabaya DPRD asked the local city government to create a scheme for protecting children following cases of sexual violence that are still common in the city. "The purpose of this scheme is so that children can grow and develop safely and comfortably in the city of Surabaya. Surabaya does not only bear the title of a child-friendly city, its essence is not like that," said Chairman of Commission D of the Surabaya DPRD, Khusnul Khotimah in Surabaya, Monday. The case that happened to the disabled child has been reported to the Surabaya Police. On this incident, Khusnul said he was concerned, because in Surabaya there are still cases of children experiencing sexual violence. In fact, Surabaya has won the title of child-friendly city. This condition is very ironic. "This is not the first case of a child with a disability who has been sexually abused. In 2021, there will be 104 cases of child abuse in Surabaya. This is due to several reasons. However, most of them are due to economic factors. other factors," he said. According to Khusnul, so that such cases do not continue to be repeated in the City of Heroes, his party asked the Surabaya City Government to make strategic and tactical steps, such as making a scheme on child protection patterns that are clear and easy to implement. In addition to encouraging the Surabaya City Government to make a grand design, he continued, his party is also pushing to immediately revise Perda Number 6 of 2011 concerning Child Protection Providers. Moreover, some time ago the Indonesian House of Representatives passed the Sexual Violence Law (UU TPKS). The head of the Surabaya City Social Service (Dinsos) Anna Fajriatin previously admitted that his party had applied for direct assistance to the Ministry of Social Affairs in the form of an assistance program for the Social Worker Service Unit (Sakti Peksos). The Decree (SK) from the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, which is also recognized as valid by the Police, is to provide assistance, both at the court and prosecutor's level," he said.

However, he said, the Surabaya Social Service will always be open to providing assistance through skills training at the UPTD for the Pondok Social Environment (Liponsos) of Kalijudan City of Surabaya.
