First In Papua, Students In Grade 1 SD And PAUD Will Learn The Jayawijaya Regional Language

WAMENA - The Jayawijaya District Education Office, Papua Province, has ensured that the implementation or learning of the Jayawijaya regional language is only carried out for grade I elementary school and early childhood education (PAUD) students.

The secretary of the Jayawijaya Education Office, Bambang Budiandoyo, said that the first regional language learning would begin in the 2022/2023 academic year.

"So this will gradually increase every year, so that in the end the next four to five years all Jayawijaya Regency, especially at the PAUD, SD and SMP levels, will be fully served with local language education," he said in Wamena, Antara, Sunday, June 26. .

In the following academic year, the service will apply it to grade II elementary school because since grade I they have received the lesson.

Earlier last Friday, the local government launched the implementation of local content of regional languages to be applied in schools in the new school year.

Jayawijaya Regent, Jhon Richard Banua, said that local language books were being procured so that they could be distributed to schools in the near future.

"From the results of our communication with education observers, it was felt that there was a need for regional languages so that we launched them to be implemented in the new school year," he said.

The local content of the regional language will later be taught by indigenous Papuan children from Jayawijaya.

"Regarding the teaching staff, yesterday we hired quite a lot of teachers for local children, they can help the teaching and learning process later," he said.
