KUPANG - Kupang Police Chief, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police, AKBP FX Irwan Arianto mediate in resolving the polemic over the construction of the Tefmo Manikin Dam between residents affected by the development and the Nusa Tenggara River Region II Center.

"The problems that have occurred so far between residents affected by the construction of the Manikin dam and the Nusa Tenggara II River Hall were resolved last Friday, this problem has been going on for three years but will only be resolved in 2022," said Kupang Police Chief, AKBP FX Irwan Arianto in Kupang. The Head of Police witnessed the signing of the minutes of the joint agreement between the people of Bokong Village and East Baumata Village with the Nusa Tenggara II River Region Hall and parties involved in the construction process of the Tefmo Manikin Dam.

The case of the construction of the Tefmo Manikin Dam lasted almost three years, causing the construction process to stall.

"We have approached several times with the affected communities to find a way out in solving the problems that have resulted in the cessation of the construction of the Manikin dam," said FX Irwan Arianto.

According to him, the community and the Nusa Tenggara II River Region Office have agreed on several things in relation to the construction of the Tefmo Manikin dam.

"There was no coercion by FX Irwan Arianto in the agreement, both parties voluntarily and without coercion and intimidation from any party, both parties agreed to all the requirements contained in the minutes," he said.

He said all compensation contained in the official report must be carried out in a transparent manner, starting from profit compensation, opening the blocking of access in and out of the dam and immediately relocating residents whose settlements were flooded and the facilities in it.

As well as identifying community land affected by the dam construction.

The former West Sumba Police Chief hopes that both parties must support the smooth development process for the sake of mutual prosperity in Kupang Regency.

He hopes that all processes related to the construction of the Tefmo Manikin dam are carried out transparently through a complaint post that will be established.

He also suggested that residents affected by the construction of the Tefmo Manikin dam together with related parties in the construction must carry out traditional rituals, in accordance with local customs.

After the signing of the minutes of the agreement, Kupang Police Chief FX Irwan Arianto together with the Head of the Nusa Tenggara II I River Basin Center, Agus Sosiawan, witnessed the traditional ceremony asking for the blessing of the ancestors so that the development process would run smoothly without any obstacles.
