JAKARTA - Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Lt. Gen. Suharyanto, conducted a field review of the treatment of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in East Java, Saturday, June 25, in a series of accelerating the handling of the outbreak in the local area.
After arriving at Juanda International Airport, Surabaya, Suharyanto visited the vaccination location at the Dairy Cattle Farm Cooperative, Nongkojajar. There are 27,000 cows with a vaccine allocation of 25,000 doses.
Next, Suharyanto and his entourage headed to the Farma Veterinary Center to get a report on the handling of the FMD outbreak in East Java Province.
On this occasion, he was accompanied by the BNPB Deputy for Prevention, BNPB Deputy for Emergency Management, BNPB Preparedness Director, Head of BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Head of Animal Quarantine Center, and Director of Animal Health Ministry of Agriculture, as well as BNPB staff and experts.
Previously, the FMD Task Force ensured acceleration in 19 provinces in the red zone.
"Our Central Task Force (FMD, ed.) will also go directly to the field to tour 19 main provinces starting tomorrow morning", he said.
Suharyanto said the arrival of the FMD Central Task Force in addition to carrying out the President's direction, also together with the Regional FMD Task Force to monitor the handling so as not to cause panic and scarcity of basic community needs, especially meat.
